I hold a PhD in Civil Engineering from Vanderbilt with my masters in CE from Berkeley and my undergraduate degree in CE from Auburn. I have a very strong background in probabilistic methods and optimization, and have taken coursework in structural mechanics, including dynamics (highly ODE based) and finite element methods (PDE based). I am currently an assistant professor at VU. What do I need to do to get hired by a bank?
...............................................................................
Do you understand that with the near collapse of the economy caused by the guys with PhDs in finance that there are tens of thousands of finance people that are unemployed.. And they have degrees in finance. Masters and doctorates too. They are all ahead of you for bank jobs.
And besides, the best they would put you into right now is a customer service job, commonly called a teller. You make more money now as an assistant professor. And with your degree, if you wanted to enter the work force as an engineer you could be making 100K in a year or two. Maybe even right off.
The finance guys who make multi million dollar bonuses are now almost broke and jobless. Financial engineering is a discredited field.
You have a great degree with a great future.
How do I break into a job in finance with an engineering PhD?

Jobs for 14 year olds.?
I live in oklahoma, broken arrow
and i was wondering what are some jobs i could work at.
im 14 im a guy im pretty strong.
IM GOOD LOOKING.lol
i was thinking something like reasors, target etc..
but i don't know if they will hired me and i don;t want to make a fool of myself.lol
and what could i be (position)?
...............................................................................
Honestly, when I was 14 years old, it was really tough for me to find a good job. The best places that would hire me and other teens, would probably be your local grocery stores, like Kroger, Publix, Wal-Mart, Target, and maybe even a lot of restaurants like Mcdonalds, Wendys, Burger King, Chik-fil-a, Subway, you should try to apply to these kinds of places even the ones mentioned above, because they hire almost everybody.
By the way, a lot of people might offer you jobs on the internet and all, but most of them are scams, so please be careful.
...............................................................................
all web stuff aside, you may want to apply at fast food joints. they most likely will put you on drive thru, but its mostly steady work. i dont know about oklahoma's laws, but they might have an age limit for how old you have to be before you work.but you will pretty much be doing grunt work wherever you apply.

Do you ever worry that computer technology will make virtually all working jobs obsolete?
What if we all end up in a society where we become cogs in a computer-technology machine, where all we do is just write code and program and build computers and machines?
Doesn't that sound a bit dreary and bleak to you, where there's no other jobs nor opportunities to be human?
It seems that America would become slaves to Technology as it did to Industrialization a hundred years ago.
...............................................................................
Nope. There are WAY too many things that computers can't do.
ANY work outside. repairmen, gardeners, tree trimmers. construction workers. road builders. Social workers. lawyers. doctors. nurses. chefs. the list is nearly endless. scientists...yes, they USE computers, but computers don't find the cure for diseases all by their lonesome. They are tools. And it takes a human to use a tool.

Tips on personality test for chase and other jobs?
I really want to work in a bank, but for some reason i always do bad in the questionaire. should i always put strongly agree and strongly disagrees.. iono i need help!
...............................................................................
There are many personality tests. The trick is to answer consistently throughout the test. Many of these tests will ask the same question but word it differently and people either don't pay attention and quickly answer or others don't catch that they are asking a similar question and answer it differently. Typically you should strongly agree or strongly disagree for questions but make if it is a question about do you work better alone or in a team environment you would answer in the middle (both). Questions such as "I dislike performing repetitive tasks" strongly disagree. "I don't get along with all of my co-workers" Strongly disagree. Use common sense in terms of what they want to hear. Even if the question says everyone lies or steals or fakes reason for absenteeism at one point in time at their job, strongly disagree.
