I am a 21 year old female with a medical condition. I recently quit my good job to focus on school. That job had great health insurance and I didn't have to pay much per month or for a co pay.
I believe that I made a good decision by quitting that job and getting a part time job while attending college full time. The only downside is that I have insurance separately and pay a lot out in these expenses. My health insurance with Anthem BCBS is $113 a month, each time I go to the doctor it's a $40 co pay and I always get a bill from the doctor or a lab for an additional $100. It's difficult for me to afford this working part time.
Are there any more affordable health insurance options for a struggling student with a medical condition? I've heard there are benefits out there for unemployed people to get their medicine and doctor visits for very cheap.
Any help is appreciated!

$113 is cheap. Sounds good. Just ask your isurance broker. That's what their job is and they're free. Hopefully you didn't just buy direct and put yourself at a disadvantage for information (you don't save money buying direct so don't do it).
health-quotes.isgreat.org - my family have this health insurance. It is affordable and has good coverage for dental issues.
I have met this sort of situation before, here

You need to go to Social Services and apply for Medicaid.

"Affordable" is extremely subjective, and usually means, "for less money than it really costs". Where can I buy an affordable Lamborghini?
Private health insurance does NOT have to cover the preexisting condition. The plan you have now is pretty darned cheap. With health insurance, you get what you pay for, and there's no insurance that's targeted towards unemployed people.
You get doctor visits cheap by going to a local health clinic. You get prescriptions cheap, by asking your doctor to prescribe them off the $4 lists at Target, Sams, Walmart. Or you can go to www.rxassist.org or www.ppa.org to see if those programs can help you.
Here in the USA, MOST adults have "a medical condition". The pharmaceutical companies LOVE it. But anything that sounds too good to be true - is probably a scam.
