I just had 9 overdrafts! Which has never happened before! I was careless and spent a little too much. Does it hurt my credit? =(
NSF charges are bank charges and are not attached to your credit score in anyway. These charges are a penalty from your bank because they covered a charge for you (think of it as a high interest loan never worth it unless you are totally in a bind) that’s how I learned to keep track of my account balance. Ask yourself for those who use this as a common practice is it worth 35.00 (normal NSF fee to buy 80.00 shoes etc.? That means those shoes really cost you $115.00). Some banks charge fees even when they don’t pay. Fees are how banks make money and pay their shareholders.
It will really only affect your credit if you don't pay the bank and they write off your account.
it will only hurt your credit if your bank reports them to the credit bureaus, which is unlikely.. . . but it can hurt if you apply for any loans that require your bank statements. If you are planning on getting a mortgage or anything like that - wait 6 months before you apply because they will look at your banking history.
So, yes it can hurt you - but should not actually affect your credit score
