What are the latest figures for Walmart stock?

It's at $50.44

The biggest mistake that new investors make is they invest in companies they know of. If you know of a company and you are new to investing, chances are, that company is a "slow mover", meaning it goes nowhere. Might as well let your money sit in a bank account because stocks like Walmart don't move. They just sit still. If you are daytrading, then its a good stock to daytrade because it fluctuates throughout the day, but if you are a long term investor and you want to actually get rich, its not going to happen with Walmart. The stock is at 50.44. In 2005 it was at 52.44. So if you invested $20,000 in Walmart 5 years ago, you would now have $19,238. In the year 2000, it was at 56.44. So if you invested in Walmart 10 years, you would still have close to what you have now, barely earning anything. Waste of time. Big companies are safe to invest in usually, but they are already big, so they've already had their big day on the stock market. Look for smaller companies that are up and coming or midsized or look for big companies that have failed and who's stock plummeted but may be making a come back.
