The stock return is a a term used for investing in shares through secondary market purchase.U have, suppose,bought shares worth Rs.1,00,000/-.After one year,u sold the same for Rs. 1,20,000/-.The return here is 20 % pa.
Share holders return is a management accounting term.Here the return the original share holders get in the form of dividend n bonus shares r calculated.

A share may be bought from the market to day n may be sold tomorrow.In this case the stock return will be applied to know the return.But in case of share holders who hold the shares for long period,the second term is used to calculate their return.

Not quite. total Stock Return is before brokers fees. Total Shareholders Return is your return after your pay a broker to buy and then to sell the stock.
