I am not aware of the system that works the NHS, but what if The insurance companies, and drug companies are made to donate a percentage of their profits into the Healthcare system? Sort of like a tax for very large and very profitable companies?
After all it is them that make the health system expensive.
The NHS in Britain, apparently, would run like a dream if it wasn't for drug companies charging so much for their drugs.
Health insurance companies and drug companies will be made to donate.
Under the new plan they will be taxed special taxes = donation.
I am afraid that in turn - they will just pass on these costs to the consumer.
The only way I see out of this is to take baby steps.
Give everyone free catastrophic health insurance (ex: $5,000 deductible). This will keep many families from declaring bankruptcy, and I think the goverment may be able to afford it without selling our soul to China which already owns 45% of our treasury notes.
If familes or individuals want extra coverage for that 5,000, they could get it on their own through insurance companies.

You're making the same mistaken assumption that all the liberal Democrats make: the answer is to raise taxes on the "rich insurance and healthcare companies." Who do you think will pay the passed-on costs of those taxes? It would be great for everyone to have access to health insurance; the great debate is how to pay for it and who pays. "There ain't no free lunch."
what you dont realise is that the american health care system is made that way for one reason, to make a hell of a lot of money off of people. that is why it was introduced the way it was. all the drugs are so expensive (hundreds or thousands of times what they should be in some cases) and insurance companys would not go for that because they are in it for one thing and one thing only, to make money.
Taxing the insurance companies would just make the premiums go up. So, in effect you're penalizing the people that ARE responsible and get health insurance.
Don't blame the health insurance companies for the cost of healthcare. Insurance premiums would come down if the cost of care did.
no, it is not them that makes the health system expensive. you need to do some more research before making such comments.
