First of all - credit can ruin your life unless you use it wisely.
Wise use= charge something then pay in full each month.
Anything else can ruin your credit and devastate your life.
Do you have a checking account? You need one.
Go to your bank and ask them for a secured card.
This card with good usage (paying in full), will turn into a credit card in 6 months. Pay minimums and it can take years since carrying balances means you can not pay in full and you are a risky customer.

So *why* do you want a credit card?
Did you buy into the idea that you need to start building a credit history?
Or do you want to be able to carry one card instead of cash all the time? If so, talk to a parent about getting a cosigned card or a secured card or talk to the bank about getting a prepaid card.
consider yourself lucky. Don't buy into the whole credit building scam.
Credit cards, along with the fico score was designed to do nothing but get and keep you in debt. That's all.
People will tell you to get a card and pay it off every month to avoid the interest. This keeps you in good standing with the credit card CO's. That's bull. Credit card Co's don't make enough money off of you if you do. Next yr they are starting to charge annual fees because of the new laws that take effect in Feb.
If you are responsible with your money and live on less than you make. If you pay as you go and save up an emergency fund. You will have money and not have to play kissy face with banks.
Of course the bankers are gonna tell you different because they make lots of money from your debt. Just look around town. There is a bank on every corner.

You don't need credit now. Wait till you've completed school and are working full time.
