Every single time a commercial comes I have someone on TV telling me I need to let my family grieve and not worry about finances when I die. These funeral ads started occassionally 5 years ago in my country but now it's about every commercial break every day.
"Hey, I've paid more for a cup of coffee. And $2.50 really is a small price to pay... for peace of mind". Grrrh. I don't even want a funeral for myself, I think they're as useful as having a party for a fetus. Funeral businesses were mostly bought out by American companies who brought their marketing teams with them so am told they're running the same system they have from back home.
Here in the United States we see drug ads 24/7 on all channels. The pharmaceutical companies are trying to sell us every kind of drug, from depression meds to diet pills... and then of course they have to follow them up with "may cause serious side affects like, stomach pain, headaches, diarrhea, and death." You'd think they just want to keep us all happy and skinny, but I really think they just want to sell us more drugs.
As for your funeral commercials, many Americans are turning to cremation for many reasons. Beside the fact that dead bodies only rot and take up space that we desperately need, it also costs much less to be cremated. Perhaps that's why American companies are advertising abroad... most Americans can longer afford to be buried.
I live on the East Coast of the USA and I could say I watch a lot of tv. To answer your question by me I don't see these running as you describe. I see more ads for cars and prescription drug companies running ads here. Hope it helps.
