now there is talk of penalizing people overweight? and forcing all!! citizens to get health insurance or face penalties? what of a homeless man who cannot get any? put them in jail and fine them? what is becoming of this nations values? corporate greed?
There is no plan to penalize anyone for being unable to afford health insurance. There is no plan to jail anyone for not having health insurance.
The plan is to offer health insurance to everyone at a price that they can afford (and make it free for anyone who cannot afford to pay anything) and fine (but not jail) anyone who voluntarily decides not to pay for health insurance if they can afford it.

No, it's not "sinister". That's not the appropriate word to use.
The problem is, you can't have it both ways. You can't "share" all medical costs equally between healthy and unhealthy people, unless you make the healthy people pay for it.
So if you're allowing all the unhealthy people to suddenly get health insurance, the only way to not pay $25,000 a month for each one, is to make 24 HEALTHY people take it, and everyone pays $1,000 a month.
Insurance is just sharing the claims.
It's not this nation's values that are slipping, and it's not corporate greed - it's basic math, and an ignorant population that refuses to educate itself in, well, basic math.
It's incredibly hypocritical to accuse a relatively few corporations of be greedy and selfish, when there are millions of individuals practicing the same greediness and selfishness on an individual scale.
