What does uninsured motorist property damage on an auto insurance policy cover?

Also, who needs this coverage? Is it always necessary?

I'm not a licensed insurance agent, but my family is the business. Uninsured motorist property damage pays for the damage on your vehicle in the event that you are in an automobile accident with someone else that doesn't have insurance where the uninsured is at fault. Everyone should have it & most do without perhaps knowing it. When you have "full coverage" on your car, you have it.

Watch out. Many states put a limit on UMPD coverage. Here in calif its only 3,500. So thats all you will get despite paying a premium. Its not worth it most of the time. Report Abuse
