I got a question for you all. A uncle of mine just found out a family member of ours has been opening up new accounts in his name. Like credit cards and stuff. They live together so that was how she was able to get to his mail. He doesn't want to turn her in but i think he should. Would you turn a family member in for this? Or would you just let it slide and forget about it?
If a "family member" stole from me, they have lost the right to be treated as a member of my family and I would report them to the police.
I wouldnt treat them as a family member nomore that is considered identity theft. Your unlce should confront her about this and tell her to close everything she opened in his name and pay it all back if not then turn her in for it just that simple. Give her a chance before turning her in though i mean she is flesh and blood gotta give family a chance to fix what they did wrong if they dont turn them in.
I would confront her and tell her if she doesn't pay up and close the accounts , I'll call the police and Do it if she doesn't. My brother in law
broke in to our house, and stole stuff, Sent his butt to jail. If they can do
it to you, they're not family.
Honey that's fraud, more specifically identity theft. A family "member" would not do that. Besides who would want to deal with the consequences? Of course I would turn them in a heartbeat.
my wife did that to me. i didnt report it. ive been fighting bill collectors ever since. sometimes i wish i would have reported it. but it would have complicated things.
we seperated in 05 got divorced in 08. my credit is shot but things could have been worse.
depending on my relationship with the family member, I may give them the opportunity to pay off and close the accounts immediately. otherwise they are just another identity thief.
Turn them in.
