Hi James
There are several places where you can go for help to find an accountant - asking yahoo questions is a good one, cos guess what, I'm a chartered accountant and I help people to save tax and to start up businesses.
You can check out my website at (http://www.vowles.co.uk/) to find out about me. We have loads of free stuff you can download from our website, including a free guide to choosing an accountant. I am local to Milton Keynes and if you would like a free initial meeting just ask!
You can also look in a couple of other places. Asking friends or contacts is useful, because you get feedback about what they think about their accountant.
You can also get free information about lots of stuff to do with starting in business from Business Link and they also have lists of accountants (but they probably can't say which ones will be most helpful!). Try their website.
One of the things to remember is that not all accountants are the same. Look for one that is professionally qualified, check that they have professional indemnity insurance (pays out if they mess up!), ask for testimonials from satisfied customers, but also make sure you meet them before deciding. You have to trust your accountant and visiting them will help you decide if they are right for you.
