I have a situation that is harming my current position. I applied for a position for advancement, I just graduated from college. My branch manager wants my teller manager for that position but I wanted to be considered for that position, if not then the position my teller manager is going to leave open. Some how, word got out to my teller manager that I am applying for the same position she is....and now, suspicious things have been happening. For example a strap of money just disapeared from my drawer, while i was in a meeting about my application. So i have a few questions....
Is it okay that my teller manager who is essentially just ateller, allowed to know I am also applying for the same position she is? like was she allowed to know? i mean werent they affraid that something like a conspriousy was going to happen? isnt that why they keep things confidential.....?
Being a former manager I know that managers are not supposed to divulge that kind of information. In other words what I mean is that a higher manager is not supposed to be telling anyone who is applying for the position especially if the person they are telling is applying for the same position. So what the higher manager did was wrong, those types of things are supposed to be confidential. I don't know what you can do about it though. You might try talking to a workforce lawyer and see what they say. Hope things work out for you.
there is no qn of ethics here. also, nothing confidential too. I feel like u r reading too much between the lines. take things easy and proceed.all the best -bharathi bhaskaran Madras India
